Field of Science

Remember the Alamo, unless it contradicts Christian orthodoxy

Really you must go here and read about what's going on in Texas.

Im particularly concerned/pissed off about what is happening in Hicksville Texas, because Texas buys their K-12 textbooks as a state not as a local school district (like every other state). So Texas has a huge effect on the textbooks that are written and essentially control textbook publication for the entire country. Thanks Douchebags for taking your education duties so fucking seriously.

Fuckin' hell.

That's all I can cogently say on that topic.

I hear you Rose, just finished wiping the blood splatter off my monitor from my own head<->desk meet and greet.

Based on the post and the reactions of others...I'm actually scared to read about what's happening in TX. I'm pretty sure that my 'guess' is going to be correct and then I'm just going to be annoyed/irritated/sad for the rest of the day...

I don't know if you've posted about this recently but any word on the Minnesota science standards?

Rose, there will be some posts coming soon regarding the MN science standards. However, some things have to happen first before that can happen.

Looks like the state board might drop the S&W stuff and instead require HS students to "analyze and evaluate the sufficiency or insufficiency of natural selection to explain the complexity of the cell."

Errr, uhhhh, now hold up for second....

PS: I love how the creationists bring experts to the BofE meeting, experts like, Miss Texas. Maybe they should bring in the ghost of Tom Landry next.

Well, it's Texas, what else can you expect?? :)

I'm right there with you in horror of this. Scientists in the state of texas are working hard to keep this from happening. Sadly, no amount of logic works on people (read state board of education members) that have been indoctrinated with a particular ideology since they were small children.

Perhaps only a lawsuit will work.
